Screw

A screw is a spiralized inclined plane that is wrapped around a cylinder-shaped core. Even though there are several kinds of screws for different uses, they all perform the basic function of converting a force that travels in a circular motion into a force that travels vertically. *Carr, 2007 One of the most common uses of the screw today is to keep two things interlocked. For a more powerful screw, the threads need to be closer together. However, it will take more work to tighten a more powerful screw. *Khan Academy, n.d.; Carr, 2017
